| | 4-Amino-2,5-dimethylphenol Usage And Synthesis |
| Chemical Properties | solid | | Uses | 4-Amino-2,5-dimethylphenol may be used in chemical synthesis studies. | | Synthesis | GENERAL METHOD: A mixture of p-benzoquinone monoxime (1.26 mmol), SnCl2 (0.72 g, 3.80 mmol), 20 mL of CH2Cl2, and 0.2 mL of concentrated HCl was heated and refluxed for 16 hours. After completion of the reaction, CH2Cl2 was removed by distillation under reduced pressure. the residue was dissolved in ethyl acetate and washed with saturated aqueous NaHCO3. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure to give 4-amino-2,5-dimethylphenol as a solid product. | | References | [1] Tetrahedron, 2014, vol. 70, # 39, p. 6963 - 6973 [2] Chemische Berichte, 1885, vol. 18, p. 570 [3] Chemische Berichte, 1887, vol. 20, p. 979 [4] Journal of the American Chemical Society, 1917, vol. 39, p. 2190 [5] Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2016, vol. 138, # 16, p. 5202 - 5205 |
