| | Pyridin-2-ol Usage And Synthesis |
| Uses | 2-Pyridinol (Levetiracetam EP Impurity C) is used as a reactant in the synthesis of di-2-pyridyl thionocarbonate as a dehydration, and thiocarbonyl transfer reagent (1). 2-Pyridinol is also an impurity of Levetiracetam (L331500) the (S)-enantiomer of Etiracetam (E932970) and the ethyl analog of Piracetam (P500800). Used as an anticonvulsant (2). Neuroprotective & Neuroresearch Product. | | Definition | ChEBI: Pyridin-2-ol is a monohydroxypyridine that is pyridine substituted by a hydroxy group at position 2. It has a role as a plant metabolite. | | storage | Best stored in a stoppered vessel at 0 °C or below; avoid contact with strong acids and oxidizing agents; it is toxic and an irritant and so appropriate precautions should be taken. |
