ANTI-53BP1 Usage And Synthesis
UsesAll Prestige Antibodies Powered by Atlas Antibodies are developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project (www.proteinatlas.org)and as a result, are supported by the most extensive characterization in the industry.

The Human Protein Atlas project can be subdivided into three efforts: Human Tissue Atlas, Cancer Atlas, and Human Cell Atlas. The antibodies that have been generated in support of the Tissue and Cancer Atlas projects have been tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues and through the recent efforts of the Human Cell Atlas project, many have been characterized by immunofluorescence to map the human proteome not only at the tissue level but now at the subcellular level. These images and the collection of this vast data set can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. General DescriptionTP53BP1 (tumor protein p53 binding protein 1) was initially recognized as a p53-binding protein, which increases the transcriptional activity of p53. It is also a tumor suppressor protein. This protein contains two BRCA1 domains in its C-terminal, called BRCA1 C-terminal (BRCT) domains. This protein is localized to the nucleus.
Biochem/physiol ActionsTP53BP1 (tumor protein p53 binding protein 1) plays an essential role in DNA damage repair and cell cycle control, where it interacts with damage sensors and signal transducers. It is involved in DSB (double strand break) repairs, and mediates microhomology-mediated end-joining (MMEJ) in G1-phase cells. In breast cancer, this protein acts as a tumor suppressor, and as a marker for the prognosis of breast cancer. It also inhibits angiogenesis in the same. Three variants of this gene are linked with reduced risk of basal cell carcinoma (BCC).
