| | Diethylhexyl Butamido Triazone Usage And Synthesis |
| Description |
Diethylhexyl Butamido Triazone, or Iscotrizinol, is an organic, oil-soluble sun filter that absorbs UV-B radiation. Requires only very small concentrations to achieve a high Sun Protection Factor (SPF). Diethylhexyl Butamido Triazone is used in a wide range of cosmetic products to provide an appropriate Sun Protection Factor (SPF) in sunscreens or protect cosmetics against UV radiation. It is hardly absorbed by the skin, rarely leads to irritation, causes no allergic reactions, and has no evidence of any (geno)toxic or carcinogenic effect. Very soluble in cosmetic emollients and can readily be incorporated in the oily phase of emulsions. Because of its hydrophobic nature, it’s particularly suitable for water-repellent and water-resistand formulations.
| | Uses | Iscotrizinol is a triazine based organic compound that readily absorbs UVA and UVB radiation. Iscotrizinol is commonly found in sunscreen and other sun care products. | | Uses | diethylhexyl butamido triazone is a sunscreen chemical that acts as a uV filter and absorber. | | Flammability and Explosibility | Non flammable | | Synthesis | Under stirring, 36.5 g of tert-butylamine was added to 235 g of the xylene mixture obtained in Example 3 over a period of 15 minutes, maintained by cooling at 30-40C. After heating at 40C for an additional 30 minutes, the mixture was heated to 95C over a period of 60 minutes. After 60 minutes at 95C, the temperature was reduced to 50-60C and 212 g of 12.5% w/w sodium carbonate. After 15 min at 50C, stirring was interrupted and the alkaline aqueous phase below was separated and drained. The organic phase was washed with water. After removal of residual water by azeotropic distillation in the presence of filtering earth, the mixture was cooled to 60C and thermally filtered. The product is then separated by distillation under vacuum to remove xylene completely to give the final product diethylhexylbutylamido triazinone. |
