| Chemical Properties | Reddish brown powder. Soluble in water, solubility in water (60℃) 30g/L. Aqueous solution is bluish red to magenta, adding concentrated hydrochloric acid produces purple precipitate; adding concentrated sodium hydroxide solution is magenta purple. Difficult to dissolve in ethanol, ethylene glycol ether, insoluble in other organic solvents. Blue in concentrated sulfuric acid, bluish red to purple after dilution. Blue in concentrated nitric acid. | | Uses | Stain for connective tissue.
