| Chemical Properties | Deep red powder. Soluble in water, aqueous solution is bluish red to red, adding concentrated hydrochloric acid is magenta; adding sodium hydroxide solution is orange-brown. Slightly soluble in ethanol, acetone and ethylene glycol ethyl ether, insoluble in other organic solvents. Bluish red in concentrated sulfuric acid, bright red after dilution; red solution in concentrated nitric acid, then turn orange.
