| Uses | 3-Chlorobenzene-1,2-diamine is used as a reagent for electrochemical research or as a material for the preparation of foams. | | Synthesis | Step 1: 3-chloro-2-nitroaniline (5.0 g, 29 mmol), zinc powder (18.9 g, 290 mmol) and ammonium chloride (31.0 g, 579 mmol) were stirred in 100 mL of a 1:1 ethanol-water mixture for 18 hours at room temperature. After completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was filtered and the filtrate was concentrated to give a brown solid. The solid was transferred to a partition funnel and partitioned with dichloromethane and water.
