Application3-(tetrahydrofuranoxypropyl)methyltrisiloxane is a tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol compound that can be used as a pharmaceutical synthesis intermediate and an organic synthesis intermediate. It is mainly used in laboratory research and development processes and chemical and pharmaceutical synthesis processes.
Synthesis3-(Tetrahydrofuroxypropyl)methyltrisiloxane was prepared as follows: 129.3 g of allyloxymethyltetrahydrofuran was added to a 1-liter 3-necked flask fitted with a magnetic stirrer, a tank thermometer, a dry ice condenser, and a charging funnel. The flask was heated to 80C and 8.1 g of bis(trimethylsilanethoxy)methylsilane was added, followed by 0.5 g of Karstedt catalyst at a Pt concentration of 2%. An exotherm was observed and an additional 204.5 g of bis(trimethylsilanethoxy)methylsilane was added while maintaining the temperature between 80 and 110C. After addition, another 0.25 g of Karstedt catalyst was added and the mixture was heated to 90 C. and held for 1 hour. The mixture was distilled through a short Vigreux column. 3-(Tetrahydrofuryloxypropyl)methyltrisiloxane (GC purity 98.7%) was obtained in 84% yield with a boiling point of 132-6C/2mm and a density of 0.9250 at 25C.
