| | 3,5-DibroMo-1-Methylpyridin-4(1H)-one Usage And Synthesis |
| Synthesis | General method: Iodomethane (4 mmol, 2 eq.) was added to a solution of 3,5-dibromo-4-methoxypyridine (2 mmol) dissolved in different solvents (15 mL) and the mixture was refluxed overnight. The reaction progress was monitored by thin layer chromatography (TLC). Upon completion of the reaction, the solvent was removed by distillation under reduced pressure and the residue was purified by column chromatography (eluent ratio: ethyl acetate/methanol, 20:1→5:1) to afford the target product 3,5-dibromo-1-methylpyridin-4(1H)-one. | | References | [1] Synthetic Communications, 2017, vol. 47, # 9, p. 872 - 877 |
