| | 2-(4-Bromophenyl)cyclopropanecarboxylic acid Usage And Synthesis |
| Synthesis | A 4N NaOH solution (20 mL) was added to a solution of ethyl (trans)-2-(4-bromophenyl)cyclopropanecarboxylate (Intermediate I, 4 g, 0.0149 mol) in methanol (40 mL), and the reaction was stirred for 2 h at room temperature. Upon completion of the reaction, the progress of the reaction was monitored by thin layer chromatography (TLC). Subsequently, the solvent was removed by evaporation and the residue was diluted with distilled water (50 mL) and acidified with 4N HCl solution to pH < 7. The precipitated solid was collected by filtration and dried to afford (trans)-2-(4-bromophenyl)cyclopropanecarboxylic acid (2.59 g, 72% yield) as a white solid. | | References | [1] Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry, 2016, vol. 14, # 8, p. 2498 - 2503 [2] Monatshefte fur Chemie, 2017, vol. 148, # 12, p. 2143 - 2153 [3] Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2017, vol. 60, # 7, p. 3187 - 3197 [4] Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2010, vol. 132, # 19, p. 6827 - 6833 [5] Patent: WO2012/13728, 2012, A1.
