Pexiganan is effective against both Gram-positive (staphylococci MIC ≤16 μg/mL, streptococci & methicillin-resistant S. aureus MIC 8-64 μg/mL, S. pyrogenes MIC 16-256 μg/mL) and Gram-negative aerobes (MIC 4-32 μg/mL, E. cloacae MCI 1-128 μg/mL, A. faecalis 4-64 μg/mL) by disrupting bacteria cell wall or membrane. |
