| Uses | 3-Bromoimidazo[1,2-a]pyridine is an azaheterocyclic compound containing a bromine atom in its molecular structure, which can be used in electrophilic substitution reactions to prepare other organic products. | | Synthesis | To a stirred solution of imidazole (1,2)-pyridine (500 L, 4.9 mmol) in DMF (5 mL) was added N-bromosuccinimide (878 mg, 4.9 mmol). The resulting solution was stirred at room temperature for 5 min. The reaction mixture was diluted with water (50 mL) and extracted with ethyl acetate (2x30mL). The combined organic layers were washed with brine, dried over magnesium sulfate and concentrated to give 3-bromoimidazo[1,2-A]pyrimidine as a white solid in a yield of 730 mg, 73%. |
