| | 7-Bromo-1H-pyrazolo[4,3-c]pyridine Usage And Synthesis |
| Uses | 7-Bromo-1H-pyrazolo[4,3-c]pyridine is used as a pharmaceutical intermediate. It can be used in the preparation of pyrazolylsulphonamide compounds. | | Synthesis | Preparation of 7-bromo-1H-pyrazolo[4,3-c]pyridine (compound 70a): To a solution of 5-bromo-4-chloro-pyridine-3-carbaldehyde (15 g, 68.04 mmol) in DMSO (300 mL) was added hydrazine hydrate (13.7 mL, 276.62 mmol) at 0 °C. The reaction was stirred at 130 °C for 16 hrs. The reaction was cooled and quenched with ice-water (1000 mL). The collected solid was washed with water (100 mL × 3) and concentrated to give compound 70a (12 g) as a white solid. LCMS (M+H)+: 198.
