Reducing operating temperatures not only increases the life time of SOFC but also reduces cost of the total system.
General DescriptionLSGM is an electrolyte material for intermediate temperature (below 800oC ) solid oxide fuel cells (IT-SOFC). LaGaO3 based pervoskite; doped with strontium and magnesium (LSGM) is known to exhibit high oxide ionic conductivity, on account of the high concentration and mobility of oxygen vacancies LSGM-8282 can be synthesized by solid state reaction between La2O3, MgO, SrCo3 and Ga2O at temperatures > 1000oC. Other known methods of producing LSGM are combustion synthesis, coprecipitation route, Pechini method for powder. Pechini method is popularly used in producing LSGM for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs).
