GENERAL METHOD: To a stirred solution of compound 7 (1 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (THF, 20 mL) was added tetrabutylammonium fluoride (TBAF, 1 mL, 1 M solution of THF, 1 mmol) at room temperature. The reaction mixture was stirred continuously at ambient temperature for 5 hours. After completion of the reaction, the mixture was partitioned between ethyl acetate (EtOAc, 100 mL) and water (H2O, 50 mL). The organic phase was separated and washed with brine (50 mL) and subsequently dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate (Na2SO4). The dried organic phase was concentrated and purified by automated fast chromatography using ethyl acetate (EtOAc) and hexane as eluents to give the final compound 8.
