Warm-spicy-herbaceous odor, somewhat reminiscent of the odor of Carrot seed, sweeter than the odor of Carvacryl acetate. | | Uses | Carvacryl ethyl ether is used in spice flavor compositions as a modifier and sweetener for Carvacrol (if this phenol is used) | | Synthesis | Carvacryl ethyl ether is prepared from Carvacrol with Diethylsulfate in cold weak aqueous alkali solution. | | Preparation | By passing vapors of ethyl alcohol and carvacrol over a catalyst (ThO2) at 400 to 500°C. |
