| | dendrobine Usage And Synthesis |
| Description | Dendrobine is a sesquiterpenoid that has been found in D. nobile and has anticancer activity. It decreases viability of A549 cells when used at concentrations ranging from 2.5 to 15 μg/ml. It induces apoptosis in A549 cells when used at concentrations ranging from 1 to 10 μg/ml, as well as increases JNK phosphorylation and sensitizes A549 cells to cisplatin at 10 μg/ml. Dendrobine (50 mg/kg per day) reduces tumor growth in an A549 mouse xenograft model with an additive effect when used in combination with cisplatin. | | Chemical Properties | It is easily soluble in ether and chloroform, but hardly soluble in ethanol and water. It is an active ingredient extracted from Dendrobium and its bark. | | Uses | Dendrobine is an alkaloid isolated from Dendrobium nobile and is an antagonist of β-alanine, taurine and of presynaptic inhibition in the frog spinal cord. | | Definition | ChEBI: Dendrobine is a member of indoles. | | in vivo | Dendrobine (25 mg/kg, ip for 14 days) exhibits antitumor efficacy in A549 xenograft mouse models[2].
Dendrobine (20 mg/kg, po for 20 days) ameliorates gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in mouse models[5]. | Animal Model: | A549 xenograft BALB/c mouse models[2] | | Dosage: | 25 mg/kg | | Administration: | ip for 14 days | | Result: | Inhibited tumor growth. |
| Animal Model: | GDM mouse models[5] | | Dosage: | 20 mg/kg | | Administration: | po for 20 days | | Result: | Improved glucose and insulin tolerance, reduced Th17 cells in the spleen of GDM mice. |
