| Synthesis | Example 2: Synthesis of methyl (S)-3-aminopentanoate hydrochloride: 500 mg of (S)-3-aminopentanoic acid was added to a 10 mL methanol solution containing 0.6 mL of acetyl chloride at room temperature. The reaction mixture was stirred at 60 °C for 18 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, the mixture was cooled to room temperature and subsequently concentrated under vacuum. The resulting light tan oil was (S)-3-aminopentanoic acid methyl ester hydrochloride, which could be used directly in the subsequent reaction steps without further purification.
