| Chemical Properties | Colorless Oil | | Uses | 1-Boc-4-methylpiperazine can be used in the preparation of piperazine-1-carboxamide derivatives as fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH) inhibitors. | | Synthesis | Di-tert-butyl dicarbonate (3.48 mL, 15.0 mmol) was slowly added to a solution of N-methylpiperazine (1.00 g, 10.0 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (10 mL) under ice bath cooling conditions. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours. After completion of the reaction, the solution was concentrated and the product was purified by silica gel column chromatography. The grades containing 1-boc-4-methylpiperazine were collected, concentrated and dried under reduced pressure to afford the target compound 1-boc-4-methylpiperazine (2.15 g, quantitative yield).
