| | Potassium trimethylsilanolate Usage And Synthesis |
| Chemical Properties | Potassium trimethylsilanolate is a white solid with slight odor, decomposes above 134 °C.
| | Uses |
Potassium trimethylsilanolate can be used as a reagent in the:
-
Hydrolysis of nitriles to primary amides.
-
Conversion of esters to carboxylic acids, and dialkyl phosphonates to their monoalkyl phosphonates.
-
Synthesis of E-alkenes, and nitrocefin.
It can also be used as a coupling promoter in cross-coupling reaction of aliphatic alkynylsilanols with aryl iodides.
| | Production Methods |
109 kg of hexamethyldichlorosilane was put into a stirring kettle, and nitrogen was introduced at a flow rate of 1 L/min for 0.5 h while stirring. 56 kg of potassium hydroxide was added while stirring. After returning water at 100° C. for 10 h, the material was discharged into a centrifugal spray drying oven and centrifuged and spray-dried at 3000 rpm and 100° C. for 5 h to obtain white crystalline potassium trimethylsilanol with a purity of 99.99%.
| | Solubility in organics | Potassium trimethylsilanolate is solubility in tetrahydrofuran, diethyl ether, toluene, dichloromethane, alcohols, and most other organic solvents. | | Purification Methods | Recrystallise it from H2O and dry it at 100o/1-2mm.
