Description4-Chloro-17α-methyl-androsta-1,4-diene-3,17-diol is an analytical reference standard categorized as an anabolic androgenic steroid.1 Anabolic steroids, including 4-chloro-17α-methyl-androsta-1,4-diene-3,17-diol, have been used to enhance physical performance in racehorses. 4-Chloro-17α-methyl-androsta-1,4-diene-3,17-diol is regulated as a Schedule III compound in the United States. UsesHalodrol is a 17-alpha alkylated steroid that converts to the steroid Oral Turinabol (C365220) after interacting with 3-b-HSD enzyme. Studies suggested the lack of progestational effects of Halodrol may be due to the 4-chloro group, where it restricts the interaction with aromatase enzyme to produce inactive 4-chloro-DHT metabolites, thus producing significantly less androgenic side effects.
