| Chemical Properties | Colorless, mobile liquid. Distills at~75°C. Loses HCl with
the formation of GeCl3 at about -30°C. The HCl remains dissolved
in the Trichlorogermane(GeHCl3). Therefore GeCl3 can be prepared from GeHCl3 at
-30°C (under suction). Conversely, GeHCl3 can be obtained from
GeCl3 by condensing HCl upon the latter. M.p. -71°C. | | Preparation | passing HCl over powdered
