| Benzonitrile, 5-acetyl-2-amino- (9CI) Usage And Synthesis |
Chemical Properties | Yellow Solid | Uses | Cimaterol intermediate. | Synthesis | b. Preparation of 3-cyano-4-aminoacetophenone: 3-iodo-4-aminoacetophenone prepared above was dissolved in 95 mL of N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) and 20.9 g of cuprous cyanide (CuCN) was added. The reaction was stirred under reflux conditions for 6 hours and subsequently cooled to 100 °C. The reaction mixture was slowly poured into 2 L of ice water and continued to cool to room temperature. The precipitate was collected by filtration, air dried and extracted with tetrahydrofuran (THF). The extract was concentrated and the resulting solid was washed with ethanol, filtered again and dried to give a yellow crystalline product in 56.9% yield with a melting point of 150-152 °C. | References | [1] Patent: EP1439164, 2004, A1.
