It occurs naturally in the venom of the scorpion Buthus tamulus. IbTX also modulates the binding of charybdotoxin (CbTX) to smooth muscle sarcolemmal membranes in a non-competitive manner. IbTX is similar in size to CbTX and shares considerable sequence homology with CbTX.
