| | TribroMocyanuric acid Usage And Synthesis |
| Synthesis | Cyanuric acid (5 g, 38.5 mmol) was dissolved in a slight excess of cooled 3 M NaOH aqueous solution at room temperature and the solution was transferred to a beaker. A solution of Br2 (3 mL, 58.4 mmol) dissolved in CCl4 (6 mL) was slowly added dropwise to the reaction mixture while stirring vigorously at 0°C. An orange colored precipitate was produced immediately during the reaction. The resulting solid product was isolated by filtration, washed several times with cold distilled water and subsequently dried in a vacuum drying oven for 18 hours. Ultimately, an orange crystalline solid 1,3,5-tribromo-1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-trione was obtained in quantitative yield. | | References | [1] Oriental Journal of Chemistry, 2015, vol. 31, # 3, p. 1565 - 1570 [2] Synlett, 2006, # 10, p. 1515 - 1518 [3] European Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2013, # 35, p. 8004 - 8013 [4] Arkivoc, 2016, vol. 2016, # 4, p. 193 - 203 [5] Tetrahedron Letters, 2011, vol. 52, # 18, p. 2288 - 2291 |
