Phosphate rock and Phosphorite, calcined Usage And Synthesis
Chemical PropertiesPhosphorite is a kind of sedimentary phosphorite with fluorocarbon apatite as the main mineral component, and the vein minerals are quartz, chalcedony, calcite, dolomite, hydroclinic mica, kaolinite, sea chlorite and organic matter. The color is yellow-brown, green-brown, light gray, dark gray or black. Hardness 2 ~ 4, density 2.8 ~ 3.0 g/cm3. Fluorocarbon apatite has two forms: one with fine grains or cryptocrystalline strawberry-like, grape-like, crust-like aggregates, and the other for the amorphous or microscopic cryptocrystalline colloidal appearance of the aggregates, commonly known as "colloidal phosphorite", the latter is the most important kind of phosphorite in the block. The latter is one of the most dominant forms of phosphorites. Fluorocarbon apatite is difficult to recognize with the naked eye, if the ammonium molybdate-containing ammonium molybdate nitric acid solution is dropped on the phosphorite, then there is a ginger-yellow ammonium phosphomolybdate precipitate. Phosphorites deposited in the marine phase are often large in size and have great value for industrial exploitation.
DefinitionSubstance obtained by heating naturally occurring phosphate rock to 732.degree.C to 816.degree.C (1350.degree.F to 1500.degree.F) in a fluidized bed or other suitable device for oxidizing carbonaceous matter. Characterized by upgraded phosphorus content and reduced hydrocarbon levels.
Agricultural UsesPhosphorite or mineral phosphate is made by grinding rock phosphate, a natural mineral found in the form of sedimentary rocks containing various calcium phosphates. It is used as a phosphatic fertilizer, and is a primary source of phosphorus. It is a mineral containing calcium phosphate with hydroxyl groups or is hydroxy apatite.
Phosphorite is a continental phosphatic rock, consisting of concretions of collophanite, found in decalcification clays. The most famous phosphorites are from Causses du Quercy (France).
