| Synthesis | GENERAL STEPS: 2,4,6-Trichloropyridine (20.0 g, 109.63 mmol) was dissolved in anhydrous ethanol (100 mL). An ethanol solution of 33% methylamine (81.9 mL, 657 mmol) was added slowly and dropwise at room temperature. The reaction mixture was stirred continuously at room temperature for 2 weeks. After completion of the reaction, the white precipitate was collected by filtration and washed with methyl tert-butyl ether and deionized water sequentially to afford 2,6-dichloro-4-methylaminopyridine (11.9 g, 61% yield) as white crystals. | | References | [1] Patent: WO2008/92942, 2008, A2.
