| | Human sICAM1 ELISA Kit Usage And Synthesis |
| Uses | For research use only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Human sICAM1 (intercellular adhesion molecule 1) ELISA Kit has been used for measuring sICAM1 levels in the endothelial cell-conditioned medium. For research use only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Please refer to the attached General ELISA KIT Procedure (sandwich, competitive & Indirect ELISA) | | Biological Activity | The expression of ICAM1 (intercellular adhesion molecule 1) is strongly increased by Interleukin-1 (IL-1) and interferon (IFN)-γ. It is expressed on lymphoid cells where it is required for phorbol ester-induced aggregation. It participates in LFA-1-dependent NK cell stimulation through its attachment to actin cytoskeleton through α-actinin or ezrin. It also acts as the receptor for rhinovirus, a common cold virus, and Plasmodium falciparum. Soluble ICAM-1 (sICAM1) levels are elevated in pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), which is an outcome of endothelial cell activation and dysfunction. In addition, ICAM-1 also has an essential role in binding circulating leukocytes to the blood vessel wall and trans-endothelial migration to vascular intima. Meta-analysis of case-control studies show th at rs1799969 polymorphism in ICAM-1 gene is linked with increased susceptibility to cancer. sICAM1 might act as a biomarker for unipolar and bipolar patients. |
