Also obtained by adding a 20% aqueous solution of the sodium salt of methyl-mercaptan to a solution of a-bromo-4-methoxyacetophenone in ethyl ether at r.t. for 14 h;
Also obtained by reaction of a-(methylthio)acetyl chloride with anisole in the presence of aluminium chloride in methylene chloride at 0° for 30 min (83%).
