It may also be used in determination of dopamine and its metabolites in brain microdialysates using liquid chromatography combined with electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (LC–ESI-MS/MS). | | General Description | Sodium 1-octanesulfonate is an ion-pairing agent mainly used in chromatographic mobile phase. | | Synthesis | A method for the preparation and purification of sodium octanesulfonate, an ion-pair chromatography reagent, comprising the following steps: (1) Sulfonation: in a 1000 ml three-necked flask equipped with a cooling reflux device and mechanical stirring, 126 g of anhydrous sodium sulfite and 450 ml of water were added, and then 125 g of bromo-octane and 1.2 g of tetrapropylammonium bromide were added, and heated and refluxed for 16 hours until the reaction solution was clarified and not stratification until. (2) purification: evaporate the water in the reaction mixture under reduced pressure at 85/20mmHg, dry the remaining solid and crushed, loaded into a Soxhlet extractor, extracted with 1300ml anhydrous ethanol, obtained 162g of crude product, then recrystallized with 2600ml anhydrous ethanol, and filtered to obtain the pure product. (2)Drying: the product obtained from purification was placed in a vacuum drying oven and dried at 80/100mmHg for 2 hours, yielding 132g of finished product (61% yield), content 99.6%. |
