Background of development
Sources of arsenic:
Arsenic (As) is a kind of elements non-essential to the human body, under normal circumstances. There is trace amount of arsenic in soil, water, air, plants and human body. This is not a hazard to humans. Arsenic pollution mainly comes from industrial wastewaters of the mining, metallurgy, chemical industry, chemical pharmaceutical, pesticide production, textiles, glass, leather and other sectors.
The significance of arsenic test
Arsenic element is of low toxicity, but arsenic compounds are highly toxic. Trivalent arsenic compounds are more toxic than others. Arsenic enters into human body by respiratory, digestive and skin contact. If the intake of arsenic exceeds the excretion of arsenic, it would be accumulated in the liver, kidney, lung, spleen, uterus, placenta, bones, muscles and other parts of human body, especially in the hair and nails, which lead to chronic arsenic poisoning and the period of incubation up to years or even decades. The symptoms of chronic arsenic poisoning are the digestive system symptoms, nervous system symptoms and skin lesions. The arsenic is also a kind of carcinogenic and can cause skin cancer.
Principle
This method equals to the standard method that is arsenic spot method (GB/T5750.6-2006). The process of reaction is that pentavalent arsenic reduces to trivalent arsenic, and zinc reacts with acid to generate new eco-hydrogen, then trivalent arsenic reacts with the new eco-hydrogen to yield hydrogen arsenide. Using lead acetate cotton to remove the interference of hydrogen sulfide, a yellow-brown spot is generated on the mercury bromide test paper. We can do the quantitative analysis by compare the depth of spot color.
Quick and easy
Operating in accordance with the instructions, users can complete the arsenic test independently without specialized training. 30 minutes is enough to complete the analysis of one sample.
Accurate and reliable
Determination results with this method are in accordance with the results with the standard method. It can be used as an alternative method to the standard method.
The range of the determination: 0.1～2.0μg/25mL(0.004～0.08mg/L). If the concentration is out of the range, please repeat the operation after appropriate dilution of the water sample.
Quantitative packing
The kit can be used for 50 times. It is small, light and easy to carry.
Specification
Clip a paper in the top of arsenic test tube which has been filled with lead acetate cotton in the bottom previously, then transfer 25mL water sample to arsenic test bottle, adding a packet of reagent I, 5 drops of reagent II, 5mL reagent III and a packet of reagent IV in turn and stuffing the arsenic test tube immediately. A shake is required after each reagent has been added. Remove the test strip and compare with the standard card after 30 minutes. The concentration of the level which has the same color as the paper shows the content of the arsenic (μg/25mL).
Note:
(1)Measured on the temperature of 10 ~ 30 ℃;
(2) Hydrogen arsenide is toxic, please be careful in handling;
(3) The reagents and related products in this kit should be stored in a dark, cool and dry place.
Application areas
This product can be used in analysis of arsenic in drinking water, surface water, groundwater, fishery water, irrigation water and industrial wastewater.
