(H-Cys-pNA) 2 is an unstable peptide molecule, a dimer, and has been used as a substrate for aminopeptidase activity. (H-Cys-pNA) 2 is a competitive inhibitor of aminopeptidase, which binds to the active site of the enzyme to prevent it from cutting peptides from amino acids. (H-Cys pNA) 2 has been shown to inhibit the release of oxytocin by binding to oxytocin receptors in rat brain tissue. This molecule also inhibits the growth of asexual tumor cells in vitro and blocks cell division. (H-Cys-pNA) 2 is easy to be degraded by protein hydrolysis and can be degraded by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, which can be used for its analysis on polyacrylamide gel.
