HIRBP651-670 is the amino acid residue 651-670 of human photoreceptor Retinol like binding protein (IRBP). The peptide sequence contains 20 amino acids and has been identified as a new Uvea generating epitope. HIRBP651-670 has Uveitis inducing effect on H-2b Haplotype mice, and causes experimental autoimmune Uveitis (EAU) in C57BL/6 mice. Its severity and incidence are higher than previously characterized IRBP (1-20) (human) epitope. The co immunity with IRBP (1-20) and IRBP (651-670) individuals is additive, but not synergistic. HIRBP651-670 seems to be a naturally processed epitope from the conserved region of natural IRBP.
