整合素αVβ6是β6与αV结合的异二聚体。整合素αVα6是纤维连接蛋白和细胞触觉素的受体。它识别其配体中的序列R-G-D。整合素α-Vβ-6通过网格蛋白介导的内吞作用内化，促进癌细胞侵袭。此外，整合素α-Vβ-6作为柯萨奇病毒A9和柯萨奇病毒B1以及单纯疱疹病毒-1/HHV-1的受体。此外，它结合TGF-β潜伏相关肽（LAP），并从大的潜伏复合物中激活TGF-β1或TGF-β3。这种激活需要与LTBP-1和纤连蛋白相互作用，并通过PAR-1增强。
