Dermcidin is a natural antimicrobial peptide secreted from human sweat glands. It is a peptide composed of 48 amino acids and is transported by sweat to the surface of the skin. Dermcidin is produced through enzymatic hydrolysis and maintains bactericidal activity in high salt and pH values between 5.5 and 7.4. It can kill Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, and Candida albicans. DCD-1L (human) is a peptide composed of 48 amino acids.
