肝素结合生长因子1是一种在人类中由FGF1基因编码的蛋白质。该基因编码的蛋白质是成纤维细胞生长因子（FGF）家族的成员。FGF酸性是成纤维细胞和内皮细胞的强效生长因子。FGF酸性参与伤口修复、血管生成和发育。FGF酸性是通过内质网/高尔基体非依赖机制从细胞分泌的。FGF酸性结合硫酸肝素的能力是其与FGF受体相互作用并诱导信号传导的能力所必需的。有四种不同的FGF受体，每种受体都有多个剪接变体。FGF酸性与许多（但不是全部）FGFR具有高亲和力。通过FGF与FGFR的碱性结合激活的信号级联包括ras-raf MAPK、PLCγ/PKC和PI3K/Akt通路。
