CCL28属于CC家族趋化因子，又称粘膜相关上皮趋化因子(MEC)。CCL28 cDNA位于人的chr5上，CCL28的mRNA在人和小鼠的正常和病理结肠， 唾液腺，乳腺，气管和直肠等不同组织的上皮细胞中高度表达。人和小鼠的CCL28氨基酸序列在蛋白质被加工成成熟形态时，具有83%的同源性。CCL28是通过CCR3和CCR10信号转导，以及静息CD4、CD8 t细胞和嗜酸性粒细胞的趋化。MEC/ CCL28含有6个半胱氨酸，包括4个高度保守的半胱氨酸残基CC趋化因子。重组人MEC/ CCL28蛋白为12.3kDa，含有108个氨基酸残基；
