B细胞受体CD22也被称为唾液酸结合Ig样凝集素2(Siglec-2)、B淋巴细胞粘附分子(BL-CAM)、T细胞表面抗原Leu-14,属于免疫球蛋白超家族和Siglec(唾液酸结合Ig-like凝集素)家族。CD22介导B细胞与B细胞的相互作用,并可能参与B细胞在淋巴组织中的定位。Siglec-2/CD22结合唾液酸化糖蛋白,其中之一是CD45。Siglec2/CD22通过与Src家族酪氨酸激酶的相互作用在正向调节中发挥作用,也可能通过其SH2结构域招募细胞质磷酸酶来充当抑制性受体,SH2结构区通过信号分子的去磷酸化阻断信号转导。
