The protein has a calculated MW of 17.8 kDa. The protein migrates as 27-35 kDa under reducing (R) condition (SDS-PAGE) due to glycosylation.

胎盘生长因子（PGF）也称为血管内皮生长因子相关蛋白PLGF和PlGF2，是VEGF（血管内皮生长因素）亚家族的成员，是血管生成和血管生成的关键分子，特别是在胚胎发育过程中。妊娠期PGF的主要来源是胎盘滋养层。PGF也在许多其他组织中表达，包括绒毛滋养层。PGF在血管生成和内皮细胞生长中具有活性，刺激其增殖和迁移。PlGF2以肝素依赖的方式结合NRP1/神经白素-1和NRP2/神经白蛋白-2。还促进细胞肿瘤生长。
