This protein carries a polyhistidine tag at the C-terminus.
The protein has a calculated MW of 47.7 kDa. The protein migrates as 50-63 kDa under reducing (R) condition (SDS-PAGE) due to glycosylation.

神经元五聚蛋白2（NPTX2），也称为神经元活动调节五聚蛋白，是一种分泌型糖蛋白，其特征是环状多聚体结构。在体内，NTPX2通过与跨膜蛋白神经元笔曲毒素受体（NPTXR）结合发挥各种神经作用。NPTX2被认为在传递神经递质和维持突触可塑性方面起着至关重要的作用。它还参与了α-氨基-3-羟基-5-甲基-4-异恶唑丙酸（AMPA）型谷氨酸受体在已建立的突触上的聚集，导致多巴胺能神经细胞的非凋亡细胞死亡。帕金森病（PD）组织中该基因的上调表明该蛋白可能参与PD的病理过程。
