Lanrui peptide is more active than natural somatostatin and has a longer duration of action. Its inhibitory effect on growth hormone secretion is more selective than its inhibitory effect on insulin secretion. In 2017, the FDA approved the injection of lanrelitide acetate for the treatment of neuroendocrine tumors.
