The glutathione S-transferase P1 (GSTP1) antibody is a crucial tool for studying the GSTP1 protein, a member of the glutathione S-transferase (GST) family involved in cellular detoxification and oxidative stress response. GSTP1 conjugates glutathione to electrophilic substrates, neutralizing toxins, carcinogens, and reactive oxygen species. It is highly expressed in normal tissues, including the liver, prostate, and lung, but frequently dysregulated in cancers. Notably, GSTP1 silencing via promoter hypermethylation is a hallmark of prostate cancer, making it a potential diagnostic biomarker.

GSTP1 antibodies are widely used in research to detect protein expression and localization via techniques like Western blot, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence (IF). They help elucidate GSTP1's role in drug resistance, as its overexpression in tumors may impair chemotherapeutic efficacy by detoxifying anticancer agents. Understanding GSTP1's dual roles in cytoprotection and oncogenesis continues to drive interest in therapeutic targeting, with its antibody remaining indispensable for mechanistic and translational studies.
