ADNP (Activity-Dependent Neuroprotective Protein) antibodies are critical tools for studying the expression and function of the ADNP protein, a key regulator of brain development and neuroprotection. ADNP, first identified in 1999. is highly expressed in the central nervous system and plays essential roles in neuronal survival, synaptic plasticity, and chromatin remodeling. It interacts with microtubules and participates in neurogenesis, while its neuroprotective properties are activated in response to cellular stress or injury. Mutations in the ADNP gene cause ADNP syndrome (Helsmoortel-Van der Aa syndrome), a rare neurodevelopmental disorder linked to autism spectrum traits, intellectual disability, and distinctive facial features.

ADNP antibodies enable researchers to detect and quantify ADNP protein levels in tissues or cell cultures using techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence. These antibodies have advanced studies exploring ADNP's role in neurodevelopmental disorders, neurodegenerative diseases (e.g., Alzheimer’s), and cancer, where ADNP dysregulation is implicated in tumor progression. Recent research also highlights ADNP's involvement in DNA repair and epigenetic regulation through its interaction with chromatin-remodeling complexes. Commercially available ADNP antibodies vary in specificity, targeting different epitopes (e.g., N-terminal or C-terminal regions), requiring validation for experimental consistency. Ongoing work focuses on therapeutic strategies targeting ADNP pathways, emphasizing the antibody's importance in both diagnostic and mechanistic research.
