DMPPP has a structure of two pyrene units linked via a dimethylphenyl linker. DMPPP is known as a triplet-triplet annihilation (TTA) energy up-conversion material to effectively regulate exciton utilization.
Normally, DMPPP is used as an effective host material for fluorescent blue devices, exhibiting TTA-type delayed electroluminescence. Unlike TADF-based OLEDs, which generally have low maximum luminance and high roll-off efficiencies, DMPPP host devices provide high luminance without compromising on the efficiency.
DMPPP is also a good blue emitter with a high PLQY of 0.85, a singlet energy level of 3.1 eV and triplet energy level of 2.1 eV.
