白细胞介素-2 (IL-2) 是一种白介素（interleukin），属于细胞因子类免疫系统信号分子。它是一种白细胞趋化激素，在机体对微生物感染的天然应答以及区分“外来”（非我）与“自身”物质的过程中起着关键作用。IL-2 通过与淋巴细胞（负责免疫的细胞）表达的 IL-2 受体结合来介导其效应。
成熟人源 IL-2 分别与小鼠和大鼠 IL-2 具有 56% 和 66% 的氨基酸序列同源性。人源和小鼠 IL-2 表现出跨物种活性。IL-2 受体由三个亚基组成，这些亚基以不同的预组装复合体形式存在于细胞表面。
在胸腺内的 T 细胞发育过程中，IL-2 对于一类独特的 T 细胞亚群——调节性 T 细胞 (T-regs)——的成熟是必需的。当 T-reg 细胞离开胸腺后，其功能是阻止其他 T 细胞识别并对“自身抗原”产生反应（否则将导致“自身免疫性疾病”）。T-regs 通过阻止反应细胞产生 IL-2 来实现这一功能。
