This protein carries a polyhistidine tag at the N-terminus, followed by an Avi tag (Avitag™).
The protein has a calculated MW of 20.2 kDa. The protein migrates as 21-23 kDa when calibrated against Star Ribbon Pre-stained Protein Marker under reducing (R) condition (SDS-PAGE) due to glycosylation.

B细胞活化因子(BAFF)亦称肿瘤坏死因子配体超家族成员13B(TNFSF13B)、B淋巴细胞刺激因子(BLyS)、分化簇257(CD257)、DTL、TNF及APOL相关白细胞表达配体(TALL-1)、THANK、TNFSF20、ZTNF4,属于肿瘤坏死因子(TNF)配体家族细胞因子。该细胞因子是受体TNFRSF13B/TACI、TNFRSF17/BCMA和TNFRSF13C/BAFFR的配体,表达于B细胞谱系中,可作为有效的B细胞活化剂。研究表明,其在B细胞增殖与分化过程中起关键作用。
BAFF以跨膜蛋白形式表达于单核细胞、树突状细胞及骨髓基质细胞等多种细胞表面。作为三种特殊肿瘤坏死因子受体(BAFF-R、TACI和BCMA)的天然配体,BAFF与这些受体的结合亲和力各不相同:TACI因对BAFF类似蛋白——增殖诱导配体(APRIL)具有更高亲和力,故结合效果最弱;BCMA则呈现中等结合特性,可不同程度地与BAFF或APRIL协同作用。BAFF-R和BCMA的信号传导能刺激B淋巴细胞增殖并抑制细胞凋亡。
尽管已知BAFF以异源或同源三聚体形式发挥活性,但这些配体均以异源三聚体形式(即三个相同分子组合)与异源三聚体受体相互作用。作为高效的B细胞活化剂,BAFF在B细胞增殖与分化过程中具有重要调控功能。
