蛋白结构（Molecular Characterization）
This protein carries a polyhistidine tag at the C-terminus. This protein undergoes autocatalytic cleavage to release the pro-peptide and mature chain. The pro-peptide and mature chain are associated through non covalent interactions and with a calculated MW of 13.8 kDa and 59.2 kDa respectively. The protein migrates as 17 kDa and 65-70 kDa when calibrated against Star Ribbon Pre-stained Protein Marker under reducing (R) condition (SDS-PAGE) due to glycosylation.

前蛋白转化酶枯草溶菌素9（PCSK9）亦称为神经凋亡调节转化酶（NARC1），是新发现的枯草杆菌蛋白酶家族成员，属于肽酶S8亚家族。小鼠PCSK9以可溶性酶原形式合成，在内质网中经历自催化分子内加工过程，导致其前肽片段被切割，该前肽仍与分泌后的活性酶结合，且在宽泛的碱性pH范围内具有最适活性。该蛋白在胆固醇稳态调节中起主要作用：PCSK9与低密度脂蛋白受体（LDLR）的表皮生长因子样重复A结构域（EGF-A）结合，诱导LDLR降解。PCSK9还可能参与皮质神经元的分化过程。该基因突变与一种罕见的常染色体显性遗传性家族性高胆固醇血症（HCHOLA3）相关。
