The protein has a calculated MW of 96.0 kDa. The protein migrates as 115-130 kDa when calibrated against Star Ribbon Pre-stained Protein Marker under reducing (R) condition (SDS-PAGE) due to glycosylation.

人表皮生长因子受体2（HER2）亦称ERBB2、HER-2、HER-2/neu、NEU、NGL、TKR1及c-erb B2，是一种可导致乳腺癌侵袭性增强的蛋白质。该蛋白是ErbB蛋白家族（更常称为表皮生长因子受体家族）的成员，作为一种细胞膜表面结合的受体酪氨酸激酶，通常参与引导细胞生长与分化的信号转导通路。HER2被认为是一种孤儿受体，表皮生长因子家族中的所有配体均无法将其激活。约30%的乳腺癌患者存在HER2基因扩增或其蛋白产物过表达的现象，该受体在乳腺癌中的过表达与疾病复发率升高及预后不良相关。研究表明，HER2在个体发育、癌症发生、神经肌肉接头信号传递以及细胞生长与分化调控中均发挥重要作用。
