SAP is an endogenous peptide that promotes the entry of cholesterol into mitochondria, thereby enhancing the synthesis of steroid hormones. Steroidogenesis activator Polypeptide (rat) is considered one of the important factors in acute regulation of steroidogenesis, especially playing a role in adrenal and gonadal tissues.
