This protein carries a polyhistidine tag at the N-terminus.
The protein has a calculated MW of 42.6 kDa (monomer). The protein migrates as 38-43kDa and 50 kDa (LAP) and 13 kDa (TGFB1) under reducing (R) condition (SDS-PAGE) due to glycosylation and Interchain disulfide bond.
The protein is designed as a dimer.

转化生长因子β1（TGFB1），亦称TGF-β1、CED、DPD1或TGFB，是转化生长因子β细胞因子超家族的多肽成员。作为一种分泌蛋白，它执行多种细胞功能，包括调控细胞生长、增殖、分化及凋亡。TGFB1蛋白有助于控制细胞的生长与分裂（增殖）、细胞成熟以执行特定功能的过程（分化）、细胞运动以及细胞的自我毁灭（凋亡）。
该蛋白遍布全身，在出生前发育、血管形成、肌肉组织与体脂发育的调控、伤口愈合以及免疫系统功能中发挥作用。TGFB1在构成骨骼的组织中尤为丰富，参与调节骨骼生长，并活跃于细胞间隙形成的复杂网络（细胞外基质）中。在细胞内，该蛋白通常处于关闭（失活）状态，直至接收到化学信号才被激活。
TGFB1在调控免疫系统中扮演重要角色，并对不同类型或不同发育阶段的细胞表现出不同的活性。大多数免疫细胞（或白细胞）都能分泌TGFB1。研究已证实，TGFB1可与TGFβ受体1、LTBP1、YWHAE、EIF3I及核心蛋白聚糖发生相互作用。
